The Philippines, officially known as the Republic of the Philippines, is a country in Southeast Asia with Manila as its capital city. It comprises 7,107 islands in the western Pacific Ocean.

The Philippines is the world's 12th most populous country, with a population of about 92 million people.

A former colony of Spain and the United States, the Philippines is one of two predominantly Roman Catholic countries in Asia.

Young Life started in the Philippines in 1970 after Eli Yasi visited Young Life in the U.S.  The work has grown significantly under the leadership of Wilbert Yasi, Eli’s son.

The Country is 81 percent Catholic, 11 percent Protestant, and 5 percent Muslim.  The Ministry in Cebu is predominately made up of Protestant and Catholic Staff while the Ministry in Manila called Bigkis is predominately Catholic.

All city Clubs in Cebu sometimes have over 1000 kids attending.  Clubs are connected to both local High Schools and Neighborhood centers.  Life Skills and Sex Education Trainings are opening even more doors with schools.

Our Ministries in the Philippines impact the largest number of kids in the Asia Pacific Region.   Cebu is also where we have established a Young Life Training Center to begin to help New Staff develop their skills in Reaching kids all throughout Asia.

Please continue to Pray for our frinds in the Philippines who have suffered greatly these last few days and will continue to experience hardships for months to come.
